Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 Review
Kaspersky received the highest marks of any product we've reviewed to date. Although it is more expensive that most of its competitors, for the price you receive a product with extensive features, hassle-free usage, good customer support, and timely updates. We consider Kaspersky to be a must-have product for both home and business users.
Installation
Installation of Kaspersky was fast and easy, taking less than 5 minutes to finish. Installation is guided by an easy step-by-step wizard. We had to reboot our PC after installation.
Effectiveness
Kaspersky has recently been certified by three independent testing labs (ICSA, VB100%, and Checkpoint). These tests certify that a particular A/V product successfully detects and disinfects all known viruses without generating false positives. Kaspersky has a long, unbroken track record of successful certification tests, which is indicative of a product that keeps up-to-date. Users of this product should feel very confident that they are receiving excellent protection against viruses and trojans.

Ease of Use
The program is extremely easy to use, even by home users with average ability. The interface is well laid out and the graphics guide the user quickly to the area they are trying to find. There are three sections to choose from: Protection, Scan, and Service. The "Protection" tab indicates the current status of all antivirus services, "Scan" is where you go to kick off a system scan, and "Service" contains additional, less-frequently used features such as links to customer support.
Although you'll hardly ever need to touch it, the Kaspersky Anti-Virus interface is very easy to navigate.
The program automatically configures itself for optimal usage, but advanced users can go in and tweak any settings they'd like. Overall, the user interface design represents an excellent trade-off between simplicity and power.
Updates
Kaspersky checks for updates every hour, which is about as up-to-date as you can be. This leaves a very small window for a virus to infect your machine. Alternatively, you can manually update your program at any time if you wish.
Other Features
The product has a number of additional features which security-conscious computer users will appreciate. Among these are the ability to create a rescue disk (critical if you get a boot-sector virus), automatic quarantine (and recovery if needed) of infected files, and monitoring of memory, internet activity, email, and boot sectors. Despite being packed with features, most users will never need to touch them - Kaspersky automatically configures itself so you are always protected.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus is full of useful features for security-conscious users, such as the ability to create a rescue disk.
Customer Support
Kaspersky offers above average customer support, including a user forum, online documentation, and email support. They also offer free level 1 phone support (most other antivirus companies charge to speak to a real person).
Summary
Despite it's ease-of-use, Kaspersky is likely one of the most powerful and comprehensive antivirus products on the market.
