ZoneAlarm Problems?

A couple of readers wrote us this week reporting issues running ZoneAlarm. In particular, the true vector library (vsmon.exe) can suddenly fail, reporting an error message as it goes down. If this happens to you, you should immediately disconnect from the internet and reboot your computer, as your PC is not secure (ie: you are completely exposed to internet attacks). If you still can't get it to run, download a free copy of Agnitum Outpost Pro (burn it from a safe computer, as you don't want to risk going on the internet and getting infected) and run it until you get things fixed with ZoneAlarm.

Apparently, there are a number of different reasons why this can happen. Overclocking, failing memory or hard drives, viruses and trojans are some of the reasons. One of the more popular rumors floating around the internet right now is that the latest version (7.0) is buggy.

Rebooting should probably fix the problem. If it keeps happening though, consider switching firewall products.
