Adware, spyware, malware, viruses – whatever you call them whichever you have, they are a nuisance and very frustrating. It slows down your computer, corrupts files, does random things, and just generally becomes a pain in the behind. Adware, spyware, malware, and viruses are all their own brand of problem. You need to know how to recognise them and then how to get rid of them. Some of them are easy to remove, while others are much harder to remove.
If you suspect or know that your computer is infected with any of these bad elements, try the following:
1. Scan your Computer
The first thing to do is to scan your computer with adware or spyware programmes. There are many different ones available online. It is important to remember that none of them is 100% accurate and that they will all have different results. The best route to follow is to find a few good free programmes online and scan your computer with all of them. They will pick up different threats and remove them. You might find problems with running these programmes in Windows. You may need to run them before Windows boots up or when it is in Safe Mode.
2. Use Rescue Disks
One of the best ways to get rid of malware is by using rescue disks. How it works, is that you need to download an ISO image file from an anti-virus company like Microsoft or Kaspersky. Burn it to a disc. Then, instead of booting your computer normally, you will boot to this disc. Without Windows running, the infection cannot interfere and you will be better able to get rid of the unwanted buggers.
3. Clean Install
This is the only sure-fire way of getting rid of all the threats on your computer. It basically requires that you delete everything on your computer and start over. Scan your documents, pictures, etc. for viruses and if they’re clean, back them up on an external storage device. Now you can start the clean install.
If you use one or more of these processes, you are sure to get rid of some of the threats. If you are unsure of how to do it, ask an expert to help.
